Mini Makers
The Sadie and Max light show at the Mini Maker Faire
+ Tessa! Kira was at home "napping" but she had a great (calm! no offense boys) time playing with the girls earlier in the day.

Teamwork
We are all working hard to help Kira walk
Max loves grocery stores. Last night on our emergency yogurt drink run, Max said, "I forget what this grocery store [Safeway] is called....oh, the one by Lucias is Giant and the one with the cookies is Harris Teeter and Trader Joes is by Sadie."
Max also loves "bigger boys" so he asked two elementary school boys on our block to come play. They really had a lot of patience for the little guy and hung out all afternoon. The older kids wanted to play dodge ball so they stared throwing the balls at each other. Max misunderstood and took off his shoes and threw them at the boys.

Bathing suit bath
"I want to be like Uncle!" Max said before he put his bathing suit on and hopped in the tub. His throat seems almost all better so he went to school for a few hours today. He was greeted by a big hug from Zachary who said, "I missed you so much!" Max replied, "I want to do the puppet show," while looking at his mom.
Speaking of the bath, earlier in the day Max was drawing a house. All of the sudden he decided his drawing looked more like a bath, so he drew the faucet and Kira and himself.

Warm winter day!
The wonderful feeling of today's warm weather was not lost on any of us!

One small step for Kira
One giant leap for...Kira!
Kira took a real, live, walker-less step today! She took one step towards grandma and then carefully placed her tushy back on the floor and scooted some more. She repeated her one-step-wonder once more before she was spent for the evening. Despite many efforts, there was no walking caught on camera (shocking!), but it is coming!

Medicine strike
Today was NOT a walk in the park, but the fifteen minutes we spent at the park were probably the highlight of the day.
Max refused (spit out) his medicine all day and was clearly in a lot pain. The poor kid could not even swallow his saliva and hardly ate or drank anything. He rivaled Kira's teething drool, but had her beat in the tears department. At bedtime he finally succumbed to taking the meds and by the time his stories were over he felt much better and was starving! Down he went for some pasta and hopefully he will sleep through the night, or at least past 1:00am.
Out of Max's five (5!!!) surgeries, this is far and away the worst, and when it is bad for Max it is bad for everyone.
Playing amd drooling (and not crying!) at the playground

Boo boos
Today was a busy day of caring for kids on the mend. Max continues to have ups (sugar/Gatorade highs) and downs (medicine refusal and subsequent pain) with his tonsillectomy recovery and little Kira's mystery boo boo got even worse today. We deduced that the injury on her hand must be a rug burn; as if having a rug burn covering your entire hand is not bad enough, she scrapped all of the raw skin off on her snack container this afternoon. Ouch!!!!
This one does not let anything keep her down!
