Handsome [dare] devil

Max loves to show off his monkey tendencies by climbing up the slide.  However, once at the top he loves to fake out his mom and pretend to climb over the edge.  Please continue to just fake!

Max is becoming a pro on his scooter!

Tee time

Max had a great time on his first trip to the [mini] golf course.  He also loved watching the people in the batting cages; when they left Max said he wanted to see another baseball game.

Who needs clubs?

Who needs a caddy when they can carry three balls, a club, and a flag all by themselves?

Ahoy!

Max had a water-filled fun day with Grandma.

Paddle boating on Lake Anne was relaxing for Max and quite a work out for Grandma and mommy.

Balloon Pawley!

Water table fun

Out of control as usual in the pool

Loving his new electric Spider-man toothbrush.  "I'm at the doctor", Max said as he excitedly brushed his teeth, rather than just eating the toothpaste as per usual.

Hello, Summer!

Today was Max's last day of school.   He will miss all of his friends, but will love all the extra time at the pool!

"I found it!"

Another sunglasses selfie in honor of National Sunglasses Day- the perfect made up holiday for sunglasses obsessed Max and mommy.

Diving board

After watching his friends (equipped with flotation devices) plunge one by one off the diving board, Max decided he wanted to give it a try.  "No I do it," he said while his mom treaded water, with open arms, awaiting his decent.  Max desperately wanted to take the jump, but in the spirit of human nature, was scared when his chance came.  Since Max is not a quitter, he figured out a way to get off that board, without taking the stairs. He sat down, scooted his tushy to the edge of the board, and dropped into the pool.  About a half dozen times later, we all had a good workout and called it a night.

Fascinated

It was tough to get Max to turn away from the excitement of the garbage truck this morning.

Pool party!

Max is 2 1/2 years old today!  He had a blast celebrating his "half birthday" by going to our neighborhood pool for the first time this summer.  As a gift to his parents, Max agreed to stay in the kiddy pool; maybe the twos are not so terrible.

Max was so excited to put his bathing suit on after school.  He wanted his mom to be equally excited about putting on a bathing suit, and kept telling her to, "take your shirt off".

Where's the beef?

Max thoroughly enjoyed the delicious steaks that David made for dinner tonight.  "I want more beef", he repeated until he devoured nearly half his dad's meal.  There's nothing like a hungry general barking commands.

"I'm taking Pawley to a basketball game, okay?"  It's a good thing that Max speaks in full sentences now because how else would we know where he was taking Pawley in a suitcase?

From basketball to baseball- as soon as Max saw the Yankee game he was ready to bat.

Teamwork

Max and Timmy worked together to fill the pool and to soak mommy!  The boys had a great time watering everything, alive and inanimate, on the deck.  Disaster struck when Max's mommy cut her finger slicing watermelon.  The disaster being Max's reaction to mommy's bandage; he has been begging and pleading to "take it off" all evening.  "Where did your finger go?", he asked.  When I said, "it's in there", and pointed to the top of the bandage, he said, "Mommy has a baby in the belly".   Although totally unrelated to the bandage conversation, he clearly remembered the phrase, "in there", and immediately connected it to mommy having a baby.  It was the first time that the big- brother-to-be brought up the baby all on his own.   Max also predicted that the baby will be a sister, but no one will know that until November.

Max sang one of his favorite songs to one of his favorite people.

Major lunch time dance party; video with the moves coming soon.

Dinner date

Unsolicited laughter and love

It is not easy to say goodbye at the end of a wonderful date.

Pearly whites

Despite saying, "No doctor, no dentist" in the car, Max did great at his first dentist appointment this afternoon.  He insisted on lying on his mom [and future sibling] in the chair, but was completly calm while his teeth were scrubbed with strawberry toothpaste.  The dentist was surprised by his agreeable demeanor and even more so that he had every single one of his two-year old teeth (a rarity for kids born with clefts).   Max was generously rewarded with plenty of "treasures", but was only interested in his new toothbrush.

Mommy/daddy era waiting room toys vs. Max era waiting room toys (x-box- and no, he did not know how to play it, but he sure looks like he does)

Pink means plaque- but Max did not have too much.

No cavities!

Bathtime

Bubble goatee

Max found a bar of soap and was excited to wash himself.  He kept scrubing his armpits- he said it was like daddy.

Soap is not a snack!  "Soap yucky", Max said after he put it in his mouth- several times.

Happy Daddy's Day!

These two are so in love

This little piggy had a cupcake...

Some kids play with dirt at the playground, Max plays with a $5.

Max took daddy to Fuddruckers for Father's Day.  He was so excited to drink out of this styrofoam cup that he punctured a hole in the side of the cup, causing ice-cold wet shorts and a moderate-major meltdown.

Sick, sleepy, silly Saturday

Max started to feel sick last night so after sleeping on the couch/daddy for an hour, he went to bed early without a fight.  Despite several false alarms, Max slept until 10:30am!  That is definitly the latest he (or anyone else in our house) has slept since he was born.

Wide awake and refreshed after 16 hours of sleep.

Fresh air

After a 3.5 hour nap, Max was too sleepy to play basketball so he assisted daddy's shots from the comfort of the sidelines.
