Finger food

Kira enjoyed her first bites of non-baby food today.  She nibbled on bites of mango and strawberry, along with mommy's fingers.

Kira loved using the tray on her high chair for the first time.

Kira was sitting pretty with a full belly and lots of new hair.  She is still sporting a curious red mark on her face; we are in the process of figuring out what it is.  The good news is that it does not bother her at all.

We love waiting for Max and daddy in the spring weather.

What is taking them so long!?

Today was a big day for food firsts in our house.  Max was obsessed with this "spaghetti" that was really zucchini in the shape of noodles.

Max liked his dinner so much he wanted Kira to try it, too

Our morning walks to school are so fun...

...and exhausting

Back to the market

The farmers market has reopened for the season; when Max found out where we were headed he said, "ice pop!"  The new location at the metro plaza is ideal for commuters, but a nightmare for rowdy, curious, fearless three year olds.  Easy access to escalators, elevators and trains is scary enough, but factor in busy crowds of commuters, and you have a parents' worst nightmare.  A Max's dream come true.

April showers bring Max flowers

"One pop!"

Kira likes tummy time but she still has not slept on her tummy.  Every time she is on her belly she perks up and wants to try scooting.  She has been trying to sleep on her side, but she would probably be more comfy on her belly.

After school mayhem

Have a great day at school, Max!

Max asked on the way to school, "Why do mommies and daddies have to work?"  Mommy told him, in terms he could relate to, "To buy you items at Target."  "Thanks!" he quickly, and most sincerely replied.

Monday loving

"Mommy look in hugging Kia! Take a picture!"

Max said Kira could not go in the big girl seat unless her feet touched the bottom of the stroller.  They did!

We walked to school this morning and Kira came inside to play.  Max said that Kira is going to Miss Miranda's in the fall and she will crawl with Campell (his friend's baby sister that is going there next year).

Kira's dewy sleep cheeks are the best

More hugs...

HA...

Hahahaha

Water works

First day of sprinkler play!

Gracie and Timmy came to play with Kira this morning

Rasberry tipped gator chomp claw

"I love you Kia!"

Kira loves her baths.  So far she still loves everything in life with the exception of two things: having her nose wiped and occasionally going in the car seat, but luckily that is not all of the time and it lasts less than a minute.

Great day!

All I want for Mother's Day is...
a family picture with everyone smiling!

Cheers to brunch!  Max and Kira were on their very best behavior and made the whole day so special.

Still working on some bruch beverages

He did it again!

Max got a hole in one- for the second time in his life!  What a pro! Kira was very proud.

Golf spectator

Uncle got a hole in one, too, and Max was very excited for him.

Sandal scandal

Max has waited impatiently all winter long and now the time has finally come for shorts and sandals.  Clearly he all is set in the shorts department, since he was sporting them before the snow even melted, but be needed new sandals.  We went to REI, but they did not have his size in exact sandals he wanted.  Max had a hard/impossible time taking "no" for an answer, which is ironic since that is one of his favorite words.

Side note: As of late, his new manta is, "No!  I am NOT going to listen".

There was no choice but to listen this afternoon as Max carried on about the sandals, so after dinner (and more importantly, after rush hour), we headed to Nordstrom in search of the perfect pair of blue and green sandals.  Once again, Max was disappointed.  This time they did have the shoes he wanted in his size, but his shoe size has graduated from 'toddler' to 'little kid' so the Keens he wants have a toggle clip. It turns out that Max hates toggle clips almost as much as he hates Woody.  After his second major shoe meltdown of the day, the saintly, patient sales man finally found another sandal that Max approved of and that fit him.  But it really was just one sandal.  Max refused to take it off, mommy and grandma scoured the store, and finally the sales man found it in the wrong box.  Max's glass slipper/sandal was located and all was right in the world.

Max had some ice cream to soothe his sandal heartbreak.  Kira was eyeballing it like crazy so we gave her a little lick.  She was not interested.

First time in a restaurant high chair at the bagel store, but she is not quite ready for a bagel.

Max got picked up right after nap- these kids were so cute in their little cots.

We found this deserted double fire truck stroller in the mall so grandma gave Max and mommy a ride.  Max was generous enough to invite Grandma to sleep at his house tonight.

"Look they're friends!"  Donald for Max and Daisey for Kira

Max was not leaving without these sandals, and luckily he did not have to.

Yankee twins!  Max said he got mommy that shirt (but he did not).
