Birds of a feather

White Post Farms

Max could hardly wait to see the parrot show.  He remembers going to see the talented parrots last year, and even thought he should bring the necklaces that he won at the show last year.

...but this year Kira won a bracelet for having the cutest baby dance moves.  Max did get a shout out for being handsome.  That he is.

Kira was in mommy's tummy at the bird show last year, and this time she giggled and bounced all over the place.

A bounce house and water slide- what a fun combination!

During his first attempt at the big slide, Max took a tumble down the slippery ladder going up.  "It's only for the big boys," he said through his shaken tears.  A short while later, 'brave sheep' (from Green Sheep), asked to go back to the "rainbow slide" and had a blast!

Max helped Kira go down a slightly different slide, which she also loved because there was sand at the bottom.

"Look mommy those sheep said BA!" Max screamed as he waved and screamed, "Hi everybody! Hi animals!!!"

After playing 'Go Fish' and hide and seek with cousin Danielle, Max requested that  "Danielle the Tiger" put him to bed.

Beach babes

Kira went to the beach for the first time today and she loved everything about it- the sun, the ocean, and especially the sand. She ate fist fulls of sand and giggled as she watched Max run wild.

Max had a great day, too!

The sun in her face...

...sand in her mouth...

...and wind in her hair/hat.

Kira was too excited to nap in the baby cabana that grandma made her.

Heated pools are amazing!!!! We could have spent all day in here!!

Kira finally surrendered to a nap and woke up refreshed.

Who taught these two to eat ices with their hands?

The best mess!

Road trip!

Everyone's bags are packed and they are ready to go to grandma and pa's house.

Max is very excited to go to the beach and asked dozens of questions about the ocean and sharks.
"Do sharks have teeth like the big bad wolf?"
"Do mans go in the ocean?"
"Do they talk?"
"Kids have to hold their daddy's hands and the kids will get eaten by the sharks."

He has a pretty solid interest in sharks for someone who did not even watch Shark Week.  But does occasionally watch Shark Tank...

He loved going over the bridges and said we were going over "tracks" and that we should all pretend to be trains.  He was Tommy.

Kira was wide awake the whole trip.  This was especially surprising since today was the first day of her life that she skipped her afternoon nap.  She did require a stready stream of entertainment and snacks, which was no problemo since there was at least a foot between the kids' car seats.  Maybe a foot and a half.

Ten golden minutes...

Max wanted it windy; doesn't everyone drive with the windows down on the highway...

...and change into fleece pajamas when it is 101 degrees outside?  This tear-ridden emergency car evacuation was Max's first time ever at McDonalds.  He was so beside himself with the pain of having sat in the car for 1.5 hours, that he did not even want any food.  "I just want my pjs on!!!" he exclaimed through his tantrum.

A few hours later Max remembered he was actually hungry, asked for his nuggets, and taunted Kira by waving them in her face.

Camp's out for...

...fall!  The pool is still open for a few more weeks (thank goodness!!!), but today was the last day of camp. Max still has one more week of summer vacation before he [and his mom] go back to school.

Max loves Hannah!

Just a few more feet and she can ride the scooter, but for now she is happy to enjoy it from the seated position.  No helmet required.

Prettiest pirate!!!
