Early risers

Max's streak of tearless bedtime continues, so no one is complaining about the fact that he woke up at 6am this morning.  In fact, Kira appreciates it, since she was awake at 5:45am awaiting his traditional crib-side greeting.

Quick stop at Trader Joes before camp for some essentials.  "Do you want me to find the Oompa Loompa video on this for you mommy?" Max asked immediately before breaking into a fine Wonka musical medley.

It was a cool and beautiful morning so we went for a walk.

The boys went to Clemyjontri playground after camp, but it was so hot that we left in favor of a cooler activity.

Kira loves watching Max splash, play, and, [insert any rambunctious activity].

Max kept a helpful eye on Kira after dinner.  After being given specific instructions to show Kira how to use the activity table (while she was secured in the jumper), he was genuinely helpful!

Kira did not make it in the pool today, so she got some water play in the bath.

Friends!

Max and Kira had so much fun playing with so many friends today.

Another happy morning thanks to the miracle of...essential oils...or something.  Who cares and hallelujah.

Max had a bowl of cereal for breakfast.  There was milk in the cereal AND it went in his belly.  Not the floor.  It is amazing what a normal night of sleep can lead to.

Kira actually had a very similar breakfast, but she woke up a bit too early, hence the hang-over-eyes.

Max asked to hold Kira and held out his arms as if to accept a 7 pound newborn in his lap.  She is not that big, but at 8 months old, and well over her newborn weight, Kira and Max were quite snug in this chair for a whopping -.5 seconds (aka- the time it takes to snap a photo).

Kira played with Hattie, Tessa, and Sadie today.  Hattie is only a week younger than Kira, which Max could have guessed, as he immediately noticed the ladies' similar amount of hair.  He also offered Hattie all of Kira's toys. After all, Kira was napping when Max came home, so he had no need for her toys.

Now that Max has "officially" (for the second time in his life) dropped his nap, there are even more hours in the day to PARTY!

More is more.

In order for Max to see what a grade A job he did with his sunscreen application, we flipped the phone camera around for a gander.

After two hours at the pool, Max only agreed to leave because he knew that Ben was en route to play.

Lunch date

Lunch date with mommy and daddy

Max was pooped after camp!  Even unbuckling him did not wake him up

Max had so much fun at the pool with Ben, Hannah and Celia
Three smiles for funnel fries and slushed

The mechanic gave Max a flag; how cool are these patriotic tires?!

Max thought this flag was pretty cool, too, and requested another photo.

Leave Max alone for a second and he will scale the counter and cover himself in coconut oil.  At least it is super absorbent!

Washing away another fun day

Still toothless, still smiley

Kira still has no teeth, but she must be teething, right?  She is still so happy all the time, so the combination of Advil and her amazing personality must be doing the trick.  She had a few seconds of fussiness today, but it turns out that both instances were due to a [practiclly odorless] poopy diaper that went undetected for too long.

Sometimes Kira laughs and smiles for so long her cheeks must hurt!

Speaking of smiles- no one is smiling more today than this guys mom!  He has gone to bed for FIVE nights in a row without crying!  We have been drenching him in 'sleepy' essential oils and they seem to be magical.  Perhaps this just jinxed it, but what is more real- jinxes or oils???

Of course, after a winter of wanting to wear shorts and short sleeves, Max insisted on wearing a thermal shirt and mittens today.  His hands were, "FREEZING!!!"

He took his mittens off to ride the dinasour, after he made mommy break a $20 for change.  The ride only cost one cent but thanks to some change sucking toy in the mall, not even a penny was left in mommy's bag.  Max later revealed that he had change in his pocket the whole time!  "But that money doesn't get lost, mommy".  He must be saving up for something big.

It is impossible to pitch in long sleeves, so on to outfit two....

...and later biker/street artist outfit number three.

Max secretly slithered down to the storage area of the basement where he came upon a box of clothes he had outgrown.  He came upstairs in these painted-on pajamas.
"They fit!"
"They're loose!"
"Remember I wore these to the hospital? And we rode in mommy's car and it was dark out.  Or was it daddy's car?"
He was right about that last bit.  He may not have the best sense of fit, but be never forgets a thing.

Bagel bellies

Kira loved her first bagel! It kept her busy for a long time!

Max sat with Pa at the bagel store.  He said, "Boys over here and girls over there!" as he pointed and chuckled at Grandma, Kira, and mommy across the table.

Off to our favorite place.  We are so lucky that there is a pool that we can walk to in our neighborhood.

After the pool the water play continued on Lake Anne in paddle boats.  Max was so happy that his feet touched the pedals ...if he scooted down a lot.  He peddled for a whole five seconds and then he promptly...

Passed out!
We paddled by a group of people that laughed and tried to wake up the sleeping seaman at sea, but he just opened his eyes for a second and went back to sleep.

Please- do not sit still or take a rest from playing.

These dinner giggles were the sweetest!  It almost made it okay that Max spent half the meal crawling under the table and popping up by Kira's seat to surprise her.

Target RUN

Max thinks he is in Supermarket Sweep

Max did not have a swim suit, but he could not resist the fountain at Lake Anne

Dry underwear and fresh breath are all a boy really needs after swimming in his clothes
