Back to the patch

Max spent another beautiful afternoon back at the Reston Farm Market.  He met a little boy in the bounce house, who is almost his same age, that was also born with a cleft lip and palate.  Max sat with him on the train and they took a wagon ride around the pumpkins.

Max went to the Town Center but was a bit disappointed that he could not wear his astronaut suit.  Because it was finally in the washing machine.

"Isn't this so cute?"  Wonder where Max has heard that before?

Halloween everyday!

Halloween is still a week away, but this is already the second weekend in a row of candy-coated, costume-clad festivities.  Max is definitely getting his [grandma's] money's worth out of this astronaut suit!

Max went trick-or-treating at the Town Center with all of his girlfriends this afternoon.

Morning full of fun at the Reston Farm Market- a train, bounce house, slides and beautiful weather- what more could you ask for?

When Max saw the goats get a snack, he wanted one, too.  There was plenty of time for snacking since we arrived at the pumpkin patch 30 minutes before it actually opened.

Max made this on the iPad- he told mommy, "It's not for me, it's for you!" and pointed out the yellow heart in the middle.

Miss Miranda's Halloween crew: Minnie Mouse, a pirate, an astronaut, a teacher tree, and a chick

Max could hardly wait to get to Miss Miranda's- if only he could take a rocket ship!

Sick day (but not really)

Max came home from school with a temperature yesterday, and since he did not seem 100% this morning, he stayed home.  We visited the doctor, just to be on the safe side, and endured a trying strep test (which came back negative!), but essentially Max took a mid-week stay-cation.

This afternoon, Max went to Babies R Us to pick out a present for the baby-to-be.  As expected, most of the present-hunt was for himself.  Once mommy narrowed down the selection, and Max stopped hugging every stuffed animal and shirking, "Pawley!", he wound up with a giraffe for the baby and Daniel Tiger toy (from the "Pawley Show") for himself.  Unfortunately, after slapping his "mom" (a term he got from Daniel Tiger) across the face for not having enough quarters for the car ride in the store, his toy had to be taken away.  He can get it back tomorrow...if he stays in bed tonight.

Dress...

up day!

It's like Disneyland, but for a penny!

Strep test over- thank goodness!

An apple a day...

...does not really keep the doctor away.  Max came home sick this afternoon.  Again. But we won't give up on apples just yet.  In fact the apple pictured below gave Max a burst of energy and an infusion of humor.  During bedtime he was especially precocious in his procrastination technique and spent 15 minutes asking mommy, "Do you like...
my pillow, the basketball on my pillow, this baseball on my pillow, my white blankey, my big blankey, my dinosaur, Pawley, my letters (on the wall), my chair, my cup, my pjs, my door, my floor, Goodnight Moon, powder, lotion, and so on...

His expression was so genuinely inquisitive each and every time he asked a question; it was impossible to keep a straight face.  So I didn't.

Max also asked to touch the baby.  When he felt him/her kick he said, "The baby kicked a soccer ball!"   That would explain why Mommy's belly is so huge!  There is a baby AND a soccer ball in there!

PJs, Curious George, and an apple at 5:00pm.

Prized new pal

Max is already learning that life is a game of give and take.  He gives into wearing a jacket [on this 40 degree morning] and he gets to take his new dinosaur to school.  Max grew quickly attached to his new pal, "Green", the dinosaur, that he won at the fall festival yesterday.  Not exactly a top of the line prize, mommy was sewing up a few of Green's wounds at 6:30am.

All giggles at breakfast after requesting a waffle, peanut butter, and oatmeal.  And eating about half of everything.

Fall Festival at the Farm

Max loves to visit the animals at Frying Pan Farm any day of the week, but a tractor ride and carnival games (and prizes!!) made it an extra special treat on this gorgeous Fall day.

Max is on the fence about sharing his baby clothes with his future brother or sister.  At least if he gets a sister, he will not have to share these football pjs.

"We're on the way, we're on the way, on the way to Grandpa's farm.."

Caps for Sale

Fun times at Target!  Which one did Max go home with?

Halloween season is in full swing.  Max played games, won candy, and intently watched a one-man-band, at the community center party.

He shoots- he scores- he wins...

Skittles!!!! Max's new official favorite candy- because daddy likes it:)

Another new Max fav he shares with daddy- this toy

Good until the last drop

Max woke up with a cold and said he needed medicine.  He was a pretty happy fella despite, the stuffed nose.

Max had a tough time picking out his shirt this morning.

Required reading

Max especially liked [and re-enacted] the pages with the doctors.

Fully in action by 6:00am- daylight not required.

Balloon Pawley

Max was happy to see "Balloon Pawley", at 5:50am this morning, especially since a few of his other items are temporarily removed from his toy inventory.

Good thing there are two Pawleys! Max shared Balloon Pawley with Sadie and he even held (and let mommy hold) baby Tessa this afternoon.

Flu shot fluke

At 8:00pm it is dark out, Max is rubbing his eyes, and it is time for bed.  Except that it is not.  Max got his two prize possessions taken away last night due to nighttime shenanigans. In order to earn them back, he had to stay in his room.  Sleep not required.  Luckily for him, the night of his punishment coincided with his flu shot.  The shot put him right to sleep and he happily awoke at 6:00am, marched into mommy and daddy's room, and rightfully so, demanded his items.  Unfortunately the flu shot coma wore off, and 14 hours later the toys were once again remanded to parental custody.  Over 15 hours later, at 9:15pm, we are running out of things to take away, but Max is not running out of willpower.

"I got my toys back!" (Not for long...)

Let's go to the video tape

Family flu shot day

We all got flu shots to celebrate the day off from school- better safe, than sick!

Max took the shot pretty well, but complained after that his leg hurt. Aside from some soreness, he is fine, but despises bandaids; the mere site of one on him or someone else makes him recoil dramatically in pain.

In addition to keeping Max healthy, the flu shot-induced sore leg also kept Max in bed, for only the second time in six weeks.  He may go back for a booster tomorrow.

Max took his shot like a champ and talked about how he got a flu shot for the rest of the evening.

Serving it up

Max has repeatedly said, "I need a tennis racket," only to be told by Mommy and Daddy that he can get one when he stays in his bed (or just his room) at bedtime.  Generous Uncle Jordan was not aware of these terms, so when he took Max to Target and let him pick something out, the General came home with a racket.  He proudly announced to Mommy first thing this morning, "Mommy, I got a tennis racket because I was a good boy and I stayed in my bed."  Unfortunately only the first half of that statement was true.  He did not stay in his bed, or his room, but he is really good at tennis.

Uncle also won Max a "balloon Pawley" at Oktoberfest at the Town Center

Max loves birthdays

Throughout the day Max said, with a huge smile, "It's your birthday today, Mommy!"  The sweetest boy, with a sweet tooth, just like Mommy.  Yet not as tired.  On the way home from dinner, Max announced, "I'm not going to sleep".  And the General always means what he says.

Max was ready to start the birthday party at 5:20am

Max loves listening to Miss Nell play guitar at Tot Shabbat

Pee-eww

Pee-eww!  Skunks (in the song) are stinky!

Baby practice! Max had dinner with the new baby on the block, Audrey.  He loved eating strands of spaghetti with his hands and he liked Audrey a lot, too.
