Family flu shot day

We all got flu shots to celebrate the day off from school- better safe, than sick!

Max took the shot pretty well, but complained after that his leg hurt. Aside from some soreness, he is fine, but despises bandaids; the mere site of one on him or someone else makes him recoil dramatically in pain.

In addition to keeping Max healthy, the flu shot-induced sore leg also kept Max in bed, for only the second time in six weeks.  He may go back for a booster tomorrow.

Max took his shot like a champ and talked about how he got a flu shot for the rest of the evening.

Serving it up

Max has repeatedly said, "I need a tennis racket," only to be told by Mommy and Daddy that he can get one when he stays in his bed (or just his room) at bedtime.  Generous Uncle Jordan was not aware of these terms, so when he took Max to Target and let him pick something out, the General came home with a racket.  He proudly announced to Mommy first thing this morning, "Mommy, I got a tennis racket because I was a good boy and I stayed in my bed."  Unfortunately only the first half of that statement was true.  He did not stay in his bed, or his room, but he is really good at tennis.

Uncle also won Max a "balloon Pawley" at Oktoberfest at the Town Center

Max loves birthdays

Throughout the day Max said, with a huge smile, "It's your birthday today, Mommy!"  The sweetest boy, with a sweet tooth, just like Mommy.  Yet not as tired.  On the way home from dinner, Max announced, "I'm not going to sleep".  And the General always means what he says.

Max was ready to start the birthday party at 5:20am

Pee-eww

Pee-eww!  Skunks (in the song) are stinky!

Baby practice! Max had dinner with the new baby on the block, Audrey.  He loved eating strands of spaghetti with his hands and he liked Audrey a lot, too.

Field trip!

Max went on his very first field trip today.  He had a great time playing with all of his friends from school at the Burke Nursery Fall Festival. It is tough to say what his favorite part was; from the "tractor ride" (hayride) to the huge, super-fast slide and the Pawley slide, he loved it all, especially since he got to enjoy it all with his friends (of course mommy was there, too).

Practicing with two in the car.
Max was so excited to ride in the car with baby Iris!

When Max saw his brown bag lunch for the field trip he thought it was from the bagel store.  Even though it was just a plain old peanut butter sandwich from home, he was so excited that he insisted on eating it on the way to school.

...and the bedtime antics continue...9:30 pm

It's Fall, Max!

No one ever wants summer to end, but Max is especially resistant to Fall.  Not so much the season, as the apparel.  He simply insists on wearing shorts and refuses to wear a jacket, because, "I want to see my shirt".  Yesterday he took off his pants on the basketball court at Oakton, claiming it was impossible to play in pants.  He was persuaded into a track suit this morning, only after it was pointed out that it had the same Air Jordan logo as "the boy's" (Derek Jeter's nephew) vest.  Max knows what he wants.  And what he doesn't (ie: to stay in bed at 9pm).

How handsome does Max look in this outfit?

Maxxinista

Sundays are anything but lazy for Max.  From swim lessons and playing every sport imaginable at Oakton in the morning, to a date with Sadie in the afternoon, Max was nonstop today.  He even enjoyed an excursion to TJ Maxx, where the paraded around the store in a little shopping cart that was almost as cute as him.

Attempts to prepare Max for his sibling are underway, and based on his recent behavior, definitely necessary.  It seems the General is already a little jealous of the new addition. Under no uncertain circumstances is mommy allowed to hold another baby.  When he saw Sadie's baby sister, Tessa, at the playground he said, "Mommy don't hold Tessa," but that cold remark was followed by one of his sweetest- "Mommy, when can I bring my baby?"

In six weeks, Max!!

P.S.- Max says it's a girl.  Mommy and daddy still don't know.  Really- we have no clue.

Max the Maxxinista

Max's first reaction to this picture was to smack the screen and say, "I don't like him!". He thinks it's the new baby.  When he finally understood it was a picture of him as a baby, he said with a smile, "I look the same!".

Popcorn playdate

Max and Timmy had lots of laughs over lots of popcorn.  After dinner, Max took off his shirt to play basketball like, "the boys at daddy's games", but he got distracted and decided it would be more fun to eat dessert on the floor [again].  He also tried on the "General Border" outfit that has been awaiting a growth spurt in his closet for a year, but said he still wants to be an astronaut for Halloween.  Speaking of items that have been in his room a long time, Max finished off his night of humor by trying out the nasal aspirator (that came home with him from the hospital) he found in his dresser- yum.

Miss Miranda said to bring a light jacket to school, but Max wanted to wear his "life jacket"

"I'm up!"

Yes, we know.  Lovely to see the General burst out of his room at 6 am after another late, wild night.

End of an era

Max may have slept through Derek Jeter's last at bat, but he made up for that with plenty of post - nap viewings.  He also loved Bernie Williams's rendition of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame", and played right along with the man who shares both of his passions- baseball and guitar.
We also went to a nature event where Max bravely held a huge green caterpillar and got a book about mosquitos (perfect reading material for the boy covered in bug bites).  After seeing the insects, Max begged to go to the farm, so we went to Frying Pan Park where he saw (and made sound effects) all of his favorite barnyard pals.
