Max doesn't believe in delayed openings, so he woke up extra early to watch ball in mommy and daddy's bed.

Delay day
Schools were back open today, but not without a two-hour delay to ease back into the insanely short week.

Third snow day's a charm
There was another snow day today for Fairfax County, but Max headed back to his school for some much needed playtime with his friends.

Another day, another snow day
There is nothing quite like a snow day after a three day weekend. Except a snow day the next day, too (which was already announced for tomorrow).

"Two!"
Max's favorite number is two, which is a coincidence since he is my favorite two year old! His eyes light up when he sees two of something, then he points to the items and shouts, "two!". The two bowls on the dinner table tonight (one filled with yogurt and one with peanut butter- a carefully crafted meal for a picky eater with a sore throat), were very exciting.
Max did not let a sore throat keep him from being heard today. He asked to "watch film" (recordings of David's basketball games) and pointed out "daddy coaching". He says the same thing when he watches games on television, too.

ABC's!
Max sang the entire Alphabet song, complete with all 26 letters, today! David, Max, and I were playing in the basement and Max started to sing the ABCs. Usually he says a few letters, hums the rest of the song, and clearly exclaims "me!" at the end. But today, somewhere around "G", we noticed Max was on a roll, and when he got to "Z" he got a standing ovation. Even David, who did not think Max could truly walk until he could run a mile, agreed the redition was flawless. The performance is yet to be duplicated (or recorded!), but Max is certainly not a one-hit-wonder.

Just like the old days
Max had a great time this morning at the Heritage Farm Museum- partially because there were so many fun hands-on activities and partially because Sadie was one of those activities. The old fashion General Store and kitchen were very popular. Later we went to dinner at Mellow Mushroom, which was also a throw-back to [more recent] old times in Gainesville at UF. Max was incredible and sat for an hour and a half, while munching on "pizza pie" and watching "two games" (translation: several basketball games playing on big screen televisions).
Not sure what this is but it's heavy and I'm allowed to touch it!

Hat day
When Max saw his new hat he pointed to the logo and said "baseball". ESPN and the YES Network really do rival The Disney Channel in our house.

Circle, story, and...bath time
Max loves all of the activities at his school: story time, singing, dancing, coloring, and eating. Today Max got to do an additional activity: bath time. Why? There are not enough wipes in the world for some disasters. While it was plenty of fun for Max (who didn't want to get out of the tub), it was an enormous stinky mess for his enormously dedicated teacher.
It's a Max!

Showcase day
Max's 'Big Beasts' class at the Little Gym had their end of year showcase today. When Max's name was called and he ran to grab the certificate I definitely teared up. He proudly held it out to show me [the back of it], and then tried to rip it apart.
Max also got to sing his new favorite tune, the Birthday Song, several times today. First, he went to Cecelia's princess (and prince) birthday party, where he took a whack at a piñata for the first time. Later, he sang to Uncle Jordan and even helped him blow out the candles on his cake (at least five times!), through FaceTime. It was a very 21st Century, toddler safe, sweet scene.

Happy Birthday, Uncle Jordan! Good thing I filled up on cake at Ceci's party, or I would come through the screen for a bite!

Daddy's game
Max was ridiculously excited to go to "daddy's game!" and in true fan form, chanted throughout the car ride. He was very well behaved the whole time we were there- the last half, of the last quarter. Toddler steps.

Time-out
Max got his first negative report from school today. His crime- spitting at another student three times! His sentence- 5 minutes in the time-out chair*. The shocker- he sat for 5 minutes! Unfortunately the behavior itself was not a shocker, as Max has been the poster child for the 'terrible twos' for several weeks. His temper tantrums are as intense as his laughter, and his slaps are as piercing as his eyes. The spitting is usually his last resort- when his hands are being pinned down so that he can't beat his parents (who love and adore him very much).

Too cold for school!
Schools were closed today due to "dangerously cold temperatures". What is more dangerous- cold weather or a two year old going stir crazy?

Toots!
Max loves talking on the phone and luckily both his new playhouse and kitchen came equip with one. He holds up the phone up to his ear and has full conversations, which are especially entertaining given his quickly increasing vocabulary and hilarious vocal inflection. Newest on his list of words is, "toots!". Even though it really sounds like, "torts", anyone who knows David and I knows exactly what he is saying and why it is so funny.
