This bambino stayed home sick today, but playing with Max got her back to her old self.

Smart board v. Black board
Kira was so happy this morning, as usual, but came home early with a fever. She slept approximately 100 hours, which is approximately 200 times the amount that Max has slept in his life.
Max is the only one in our house who knows how to use a Smart Board, nevermind that both of his parents are teachers.
Max has been having some difficulty adhering to the rules of life. As a consequence he got some of his toys taken away. The items were locked in the car, the only location truly out of Max's reach. Here he is, perched atop the car, in his relentless effort to get his way.
Max continued his writing practice at home on a blackboard, a device that his mom, dad, and baby sister know how to use.

Shots at sunset
Little Kira had her one year check-up tonight and the poor baby got three shots! The nurse warned that they would all hurt pretty bad, and they did, but it was over quickly. Kira is 20 pounds and 30 inches; 25th percentile for weight and almost 90th for height. Her four little rabbit teeth welcomed some new friends recently; she has two more teeth in her smile.
Kira loves the birthday Cabbage Patch doll that grandma brought her. She kept hugging it and putting her new toy phone up to her face.
Max declared that this is his soap now because, you guessed it, he is a BIG boy.
Max had to decide what color team Joe, his [semi-imaginary] teammate and he were going to be for their game tonight.
At least it was not dark or cold out...

Bounce house birthday bash
Kira had her first birthday party today and she loved it!!! We celebrated at the Reston Farm Market because Kira loves the bounce house. Bounce houses may seem like they are for big kids, but baby (baby forever and ever) Kira loves them. She had a great afternoon with all of her friends and family.
Max knew Kira was having a 'Minnie Mouse' party so he dressed for the occasion. This size 18-24 month costume just does not quit.
We ran some errands on the way to the party, and on the heels of Halloween, no one really looked twice at Mickey Max.
Jumping for joy that Kira is one!

Kira was a bit young for pin the bow on Minnie but her guests liked it!

It's my party and I'll scream and laugh if I want to! In honor of Kira's 1st birthday party day, she played dress-up in mommy's first birthday party dress.

Minnie and Max
Minnie Kira and Fireman Max went treat seeking at the Town Center this afternoon. Last year this event was the week before Halloween; Kira was not even born yet. This year Kira got to join in the fun and try candy for the first time. Her favorite (aka: the only type she was offered) candy are lollipops.
Kira was just three days old and so tiny last Halloween. She is so much bigger now, but she will always be a little pumpkin.
Max was in a hurry to get himself trapped in the landscaping. Mission completion! (As his Little Einsteins would say)
Kira took a nap after 'treating' and when she woke up she was sitting up! She was less then thrilled about this milestone, or perhaps she was experiencing lollipop withdrawal.
Halloween trick-or-treat crew for life! Max wore the complete fireman ensemble earlier, but for the evening 'treat' session he opted for a more casual look. It also included a Target bag in lieu of a pumpkin, but that was short lived. Thank goodness.
The highlight of Max's day was handing out treats. He had never done that before and he was giddy with excitement every time he had the chance to dole out candy for trick-or-treaters. At one point he suggested giving them shorts and shirts instead of candy. He certainly has enough to spare, so it was not the worst idea. The treat seekers might not have loved it, so we stuck to candy.
