Candy man

Relaxing with Max, Kira, and Willy Wonka in between massive jumping on the bed sessions.

Speaking of Willy Wonka, Max brought mommy all her favorite candies, but unfortunately for her, he said, "No you can't eat candy with that [bandage] on your hand."

Stop asking for the candy I got you, mom!!

Kira kept mommy company in the waiting room

Farmers Market Wednesday

Kira had her first "dessert" today- an ice pop from the farmers market.  She loved the strawberry banana pop, which was basically a frozen version of her breakfast on a stick.  Except much colder.  And messier.

Almost three years ago, Max also had his first ice pop from the same farmers market stand, at the same age as Kira is now.

Enough with the pictures mom, put the pop in my mouth!  And ps- where is my bib?

Max is obsessed with these random clusters of colored pipes on the metro plaza.  Surely they are some sort of artist decoration, and not a playground, or minimum security toddler jail.  Max was excited to finally find a cluster with space for him to wedge his body in.

Helping to make dinner with our fresh zucchini

Max enjoyed the veggies of his labor.
David has been grilling a lot lately and Max's new nightly question is, "Mommy, why do you barbecue inside and daddy barbecues outside?"

Finally agreed to put on clean clothes

Max wanted to play with his water table in the 60 degree, 6:30am morning.  He was [insanly] upset last night, and after refusing a bath, he would only sleep in his clothes.  He must have had a salt shaker for dinner, because he woke up screaming for, "MIIIIIIIIILK!!!!"  at 10pm and midnight.  It was still dark when he woke up at 5:20am, but he was in a good mood, so we all survived.  He almost insisted on not changing for school, but somehow mommy managed to pick the perfect outfit to coax him out of his day old shirt, shorts, and...underwear.

5 more minutes

Max wanted to go for a walk before bath time.  We agreed to 5 minutes for the walk and tacked on a bonus 15 minutes for a meltdown after the walk.

Speaking of walking, Kira and mommy walked around Town Center today.

Kira is trying really hard to scoot her little body.

Look-a-like

Could a boy and girl that are three years apart look more a like?

Happy Monday! Nature walk to school

Kira is pooped after our walk home from Max's school.  She has been waking up around 5:00am lately, which is even before Max, however, she will happily play in her crib until someone comes to fetch her.  Usually she is in there until Max wakes up around 6:00am, but she is exhausted a few hours later.  It seems like this may be some sort of sleep regression, but in true Kira fashion,
she is making it as easy on her parents as possible.

Max is home!

[car seat] bases loaded

A baseball playing cow?!  Max had fun playing with older kids at Chick fil A.  While the kids were not talking about SOLs, they played cops and robbers with Max.

Sun-date

Avery came over to play today and her and Max had so much fun!  They made play dough, played baseball, went to the playground, and did about 100 other things in a span of two hours.  Not only did they have a blast, but they were so well behaved.  It was a great way to end a great weekend.

First taste of yogurt!  Kira loved it- shocker!

There was only one 'A' in this whole bag of cookies.  We figured out how to share it.

"I want to do art.  With paint!"

Flower power

Max loves to paint Pawley's whiskers, usually on his own face.

More mum mums please!

Pancake breakfast

May 16, 2015

Breakfast club

Making pancakes is a special part of almost every morning, so both mommy and Max were eager to give Kira a taste of the action.  She had a few bites this morning and she really liked it.

Max modeled and narrated detailed instructions about how to eat the pancake.  "See you put the pancake in here (the cup holder on her tray) and than you eat it."

Max kept rolling the ball to Kira but she could not catch it.  "She's not listening!" he tattled.

Max often complains about his "uniform" being to big...

So he just wore his own shirt today.  Maybe next week we will at least find a red one.

Just taking his remote control car for a walk down the street, down the slide, and through the tunnel

Max has a new pet.  'Daddy' the caterpillar now lives on our deck in a plastic container filled with leaves. Godspeed, Daddy [ the human one and the insect one].

Max and the Chocolate Factory

Uncle got Max hooked on Willy Wonka. Tonight he pretended to get sucked in the chocolate like Augustus (Max calls him 'Gusty') from the movie.

"My shirt and shorts and sandals are covered in chocolate!!" said imaginative Max.

Dr. Kelley said Kira's red mark is just a birth mark that will probably go away within a year.  Not surprisingly, she gained some weight;  she is 16 pounds, 3 ounces.  She put on a whole pound in two weeks.

Hi Dr. Kelley!
While Kira was waiting to see Dr. Kelley she caught his attention while he was en route to see another patient.  He could not resist her smile!

Finger food

Kira enjoyed her first bites of non-baby food today.  She nibbled on bites of mango and strawberry, along with mommy's fingers.

Kira loved using the tray on her high chair for the first time.

Kira was sitting pretty with a full belly and lots of new hair.  She is still sporting a curious red mark on her face; we are in the process of figuring out what it is.  The good news is that it does not bother her at all.

We love waiting for Max and daddy in the spring weather.

What is taking them so long!?

Today was a big day for food firsts in our house.  Max was obsessed with this "spaghetti" that was really zucchini in the shape of noodles.

Max liked his dinner so much he wanted Kira to try it, too

Our morning walks to school are so fun...

...and exhausting
