Derby girl

All ready for the Kentucky derby!

"Mommy she's laughing so much!"
They love each other

Two of us are walking off our frustration and anger and one of us is Kira.

Max had a great at-bat, but not his best game.  Half way through he lost interest in baseball and gained interest in a temper tantrum.

TGIF

Kira was all smiles at her six month check up, until her shots, that is. She slept off the pain in a marathon afternoon nap and was her old jolly self by dinner time.

She weighed in at 15 pounds 5 ounces, with the bow on, of course.  Her height is in the 77th percentile and her weight is in the 20th; a tall, slim beauty.

Max was all smiles this morning too.  He was more than excited about going to school with his backpack filled with baseball equipment (and a box of tissues).

Happy May! It's almost like Max!

"Look mommy, I'm not hitting her, I'm just  tapping her,"
We are all very impressed by the restraint.

Singer-songwriter

Max made up a new morning tune for his favorite bambino.  It goes a little something like this-
"Kia Belle, Kia Belle, KirAAA Belle....I don't want hair...I'm going to cut it..."
Why the need for a mid-song haircut?  Because, "I want no hair like Kira".

Pedestrians

Now that the weather is warm, we are all loving our walks home from school and stops at neighborhood playgrounds.

Walking and sleeping

Running and sleeping

Running and screaming

Max found this gem at the playground.  A thorough hair washing quickly followed.

Max was excited about this "rainbow dinner", so much so that he could not pick just one color pepper.

"This is a 'w'". Max loves to find his favorite letter everywhere he can.

Perfect swing position for teething drool drainage

Twins!  Even down to their closed-eye smiles.

Kira is six months old!

Another month has flown by and it seems that Kira is already six months old.   She does not bring us joy, she is joy, and we are just so lucky to have her.

Here are six Kira facts for six months of Kira.  Hopefully putting these in writing is not a jinx!

1. First and most importantly, she sleeps through the night.  She still takes two solid naps, has never flat out refused sleep, and always wakes up happy.
2.  She loves to eat!  Sweet potatoes, apples, bananas, and oatmeal are her favorites, but she also eats zucchini, peas, kale, spinach, pears, blueberries, and carrots.  The only food she dislikes so far are avocados, but that is okay because when life gives you disguarded baby avocado, make guacamole for mom and dad!
3. Somewhat related to food- her poops smell like pretzels!  Daddy pointed out this odd but true fact.
3. She is so good at diaper changes.  As soon as she gets on the changing table, she lifts her legs up and holds them through the whole change.  She has not resisted (tossed wildly like someone else) one single diaper change.
4. Her teeth and hair are just around the corner; she has the drool and soft light brown spikes to prove it, respectively.
5. She loves to cuddle/eat her ribbon blankey from Jen, exactly how Max eats his Yankee blankey (also from Jen) to this day.
6. In her spare time (aka: anytime she is not asleep), her favorite activity is being in the jumperoo (just like Max) but she is also spending lots of mom-mandated time strengthening her abs so she can sit up.

The happiness streak continues- six months and counting.  Half a year and happy every single day.

They love each other so much!

Kira's wake-up mood is the best!

Haircut!  Refused the "cape" and demanded a toy and several lollipops.

Sit up school

Max is helping Kira learn how to sit up, while she spit up...

...like any great teacher, his method is a video.

Kira has a bit of a fungus situation on her forehead.  It is conveniently located on top of her already red stork-bite.  Max keeps asking, "what is that mark?!"  Nothing a little [jock itch] cream can't fix.  Minus the jock itch, of course.

I hardly sit up and you put me in a rocking chair??

Well over 30 seconds

Max coincidentally has a Tommy spoon to match his Percy chopsticks

Neil Diamond sing-a-long

Throw him the ball so he can....fly into the stands.  Again.  And again.  And a lot more.
