Matching

Max is positive that the photo of his former baby self is Kira.  But really, how cute does Kira look in those baseball pjs?
Twins!

First, but certainly not the last matching track suits moment for these two.

After nap snack and ridiculous mid-nap outfit change for a non-potty trained boy.

"Does Derek Jeter have this bat?"

Handed down with love

Deep in the basement, covered in a ton (literally the weight measurement ton) of soon-to-be-donated items, Kira's mommy found her something to wear- her mommy's 'coming home from the hospital outfit'.  It is hard to believe that Kira's grandma made these booties and diaper cover over 34 years ago, or that the booties still fit.  Maybe someday Kira will give these things to her little girl.

Max is very helpful when it comes to throwing things in the garbage, probably because he often finds things he wants in there.  While disposing of Kira's dirty diaper this afternoon, he came across these super scratched up sunglasses and was baffled as to why someone would throw them away.  The refuse glasses may have been yucky, but better than when he comes back eating food from the trash can.

Snow date

There were exactly .000000001 inches of snow on the ground this morning so public schools were closed.  Max still went to Miss Miranda's and mommy and daddy took Kira to Amphora Diner for lunch, which was the first restaurant Max ever went to.

Max lined up two chairs next to Kira's bouncer, one for him and one for mommy.  After he taught Kira how to use her bouncer seat, he gave mommy a haircut.  "I'm cutting it short like daddy and me like a boy."  He also thinks that "cutting" means painfully yanking individual strands from his client's head.  Time for mommy to get a new hair stylist.

Kira smiled for a few minutes and then napped through lunch.

So excited when he heard daddy was home after school

Had to snap this fast, as Max wanted to  jump on the chair/Kira.

Max Tiger wants to be Daniel Tiger.  He has been going to sleep really well, but still wakes up at ungodly hours that begin with 5.  Unfortunately he may have had his first bad dream tonight.  He came out of his room upset saying his mouth hurt and that a ballon hurt him.  The little guy must have been half asleep, because he went back to bed easily.  Hopefully he will have sweeter dreams the rest of the night.

Can words speak louder then actions?

Despite using her for target practice, Max says he loves his little sister.  The first thing he does when he gets in his "buckle seat" after school is to look over and make sure Kira is there.  Today he looked over and screamed, "Ki-a, Ki-a, I love you!", dropping the "R", which he does when he gets excited.  "Kira said she wants to see her brother.  I was just at school with Miss Miranda, Avery...." A bunch of cuteness followed after that, but mommy turned to mush and could not remember the rest.

"Mommy, you're not in the picture".  Mommy would rather Max's still-frozen-waffle be in the picture.

One picture for each hour of Kira's  afternoon nap...

...and one picture for each bottle she had when she woke up.  There will not, however, be pictures to represent the number of spit-ups that came after.

Typical Max- laughing hysterically at himself

Saucy

Max made pizza for dinner tonight and he really liked the sauce.  So much so that he ate bowls of it while the pizza cooked.

Max will have some marinara and an apple on the side.

Max kept asking Kira, "Do you want sauce?  Say, yes!"

Kira enjoyed watching mommy assemble her dresser today.  All day.

Wow mom, you actually put it together!

Kira wanted a Super Grover sticker on her forehead because he has a pink cape and she's a girl.

Smiley Sunday

Kira has a big smile and what looks to be big shoulder pads.

She laughs so hard she closes her eye[s], just like someone else we know

Some kind of sharing

Nothing says sibling love like playing with your sister's baby toy for .5 seconds and then chucking the rock hard pieces at her head.  Baby proof may be safe for a baby to play with, but it does not mean safe for their toddler brother to play with in their immediate vicinity.

As if it was yesterday, Max and daddy re-lived Jeter's last hit at Yankee stadium.

All dressed up

After the 8pm FedEx wake up call last night, Max was up several times during night, culminating with a lovely start to the day at 5am.  He found the tie and belt in his room, but was excited to complete his "going to work" look with his backpack, daddy's shoes, a waffle in his right hand, and turkey bacon in his left.  Where does he work?  In his own words: "My gym.  It looks like David's, but it's a little bit different."  He has taken to calling mommy and daddy their first names when he wants to sound grown up.  And he should sound grown up when he goes to work.

"Give me that, I want to measure myself.  I am 4-1-2-4.  I got bigger!"

Kira sleeps like an angel (and looks like one) in her swaddle.  If only they came in Max's size.

Mommy and Kira went to the mall.  It is hard to believe Max was ever snuggled in the Moby wrap.

One minute Max was listening to The Wiggles on Pandora and the next he is watching instructional basketball videos.

Freezing cold day

It was beyond freezing this morning so Max went to school late.  Although he did not stay home like all the lucky public school kids, he did have lots of extra play time in this morning.  ESPN was on when he turned on the television this morning and this is how our conversation (aka- Max's monologue) went:

Max: Mommy this is my favorite, football, because I'm a boy.  Mommy, you don't like football because you're a girl.  I like football, Max likes football, daddy likes football because we're a boy.  Mommy is a girl and Kira is a girl you don't watch football.

Mommy: So do you want to watch this [football] or Elmo?

Max: Elmo

Also humorous this morning:

Max: Stop talking to me
Mommy: But I like talking to you
Max: You're only talking to me because I have poo-poo in there
(He was right)

It's ok, Kira, you can get a lollipop after your haircut.  Please don't hold your breath for that, sweet Kira.

Smiles for yummy snow and dinosaurs at school.  Max has been bringing his stuffed pal to school to help him with the withdrawal jitters from coming off a two-week winter break.

Tummy time is ok...

 ...but couch time is better!

Since Max went to school late he had plenty of time to drop mommy off at her school (his playhouse) and go to work in his car.  "See you soon!" he said as he slammed the plastic playhouse door shut.

All smiles all morning

Max got the hiccups during breakfast and mommy told him to eat to make them go away.  Turns out they were contagious, so Max reminded mommy, "if you eat your food you will be all better".

Max has been doing A LOT better going to sleep at night, thanks to a new [earlier] bedtime, tough love and super-strict routines.  For some reason tonight was a bit askew and he wound up having a few night caps in bed.  The Max Cam view was looking very hopeful until 8:00pm [!!!!!] when the FedEx truck rolled up to our house a al a 747.  Needless to say Max woke up.  No sound machine could mask the sound of Godzilla knocking at your door.  Max is trying so very hard to put himself back to sleep and stay in bed, going as far to remake his bed while following the rules remaining in it.

Chinese [food] wisdom

After eating a fortune cookie in bed, at 7:00pm, while anxiously staring at the live 'Max-feed' (formerly known as a baby monitor) and crossing fingers and toes that he stays in his room, the fortune revealed was true, timely, and humorous.  "You have a lively family."  Autocorrect made that say "lovely family", but as Kira lies here knowing her brother may stampede in at any second, she agrees that "lively" is a better fit.

Bottles and bedtime stories.  Two hands are plenty.

If KIRA is going to have a high chair, then Max needs one, too.  Luckily (in this case) our basement looks like Babies R Us (or more realistically, a really unorganized Goodwill) and a spare was quickly located.

Kira's first time in the high chair brightened up the kitchen this morning

Max insisted on wearing his snow suit to school today.  "I need to wear the neck one like Avery!" he said because the suit is like coveralls.   It was awfully cold out and this is a drastic change from his request/demand to wear shorts, so his desire was happily obliged.
