Wake up call

Max is still the first person in our house to wake up.  Even with a newborn.  He was a big help changing Kira's diaper today; when he saw it was green poop he said, "she has a snake in there!".  Turns out everything that is yucky and green is a snake.

Good morning!

Max's microphone is now fully operational (ie: very loud).

Max touched Kira's face and she swung at him, and got him right back.   The sibling rivalry begins...

Friends and siblings

Sadie is showing Max how to take care of a baby sibling.

(Absurdly) Big bow and big yawn for a big cutie

Max was told that when his sibling was born he or she would bring him a microphone.  Since baby Kira surprised us early, Max's microphone was a little late.  But good things are worth waiting for and he sung his heart and lungs out when he saw his new microphone this afternoon.  The amplifier did not work, and while Max was pretty disappointed at first, he sung so loud that amplification was not necessary.

Breaking in the playmat

Max has been working on learning, America the Beautiful, and he was singing it to Kira this morning.

Bath time!

Kira had her first bath today. She was nervous at first, but she was calm while mommy cleaned her and Pa supervised.

Crying, but clean!

Kira's first bath wore her out!

X marks the spot! Play dough letters before school

Max fed Kira for the first time...

...it made him so thirsty that he fed himself at the same time.  What a multitasker!

Racing Pa at Frying Pan.  It was closed and freezing, but Max would not leave or wear a jacket.

Two weeks with two kids

"Hi!" Max loves Kira, who he calls, "my baby" and he always asks where she is when she is [sleeping upstairs] not around.  However, as a newly dethroned only-child, Max sometimes lets his jealously get the best of him.  Kira has taken her brother's occasional temper in stride, and soon enough this phase will either end or Kira will be able to fight back.

Max is ready to have his own baby!

Max only wanted to hold Kira, "over my shoulder".

Max and Kira took a test drive in Sadie and Tessa's double stroller.  Kira slept through the smooth ride, and Max enjoyed it, but would probably prefer to walk.  We stopped by the playground next to the baseball field; Max ran to the field and screamed, "I want to see Derek Jeter".  Get in line, Max!

Pushing this stroller is a serious workout!

Four simultaneous smiles thanks to Meghan!  Max sure looks good in stripes and he asks to wear them everyday. Since our amazing photographer lives across the street, mommy got to torture everyone into two days of pictures.  But at least everyone looks happy!

One second!

Max has been using a lot of new vocabulary and phrases these days, including, "one second!" and "because". It is both hilarious (and frustrating) when he demands, "one second" to do something.  Tonight, as he explained what he ate for dinner, every sentence started with, "because".  It was a very thorough explanation, in deed.

Max can count to ten, but he eats by twos.

Taking care of your second child: just like riding a bike.  In the bike lane.

Max introduced Kira (pink hat protruding out of the baby Bjorn) to the playground behind our house today.  He also insisted on taking this selfie.

Sunday workout

While Max went to his swim lesson and played ball with daddy at Oakton, Kira and mommy went for a walk in the sunny, crisp autumn air.  We all got plenty of exercise, but only three of us were worn out and wanted to nap.  Or go to bed at night.

Just a couple of girls exercising and staying hydrated.

Max was trying to recall the lyrics from songs at Tot Shabbat, but instead he just kept singing, "Tot Shabbat" over and over.

Kira's first attemp at "tummy time"
Mommy forgot tummy time was a thing.  Is it?

Party girl

Kira's arrival three weeks early meant that the very first party she ever attended was her very own baby shower!  David's department hosted a fun party, at Clemyjontri Playground, to celebrate the impending arrival of two new babies.  One baby happened to not be so impending- Kira!  Max had a terrific time running around, and Kira enjoyed the fresh air.  Both kids had a 'number two' diaper change in the car, and we all lived to tell about it, clearly making our first 'family of four' outing a success.

Kira's at her shower!

Max had the most fun at the shower

Love!

Beauty date with Timmy at the barber

Max and mommy went on a date to the bagel store.
"Mommy, can we cheers our bagels?"
Absolutely!
Our bagel date was lots of fun; Max especially enjoyed the Michael Jackson album that was playing.  "Where's Michael Jackson?," he asked.  Umm...

TGIF!

Max was having so much fun with Kira this morning that he did not want to go to school.  "Can I stay home today?", he asked with a quivering lower lip.  No such luck, Max, but on the bright side your "school" is a gigantic play date.

Max said he wanted to sit right next to Kira, so he moved his chair, and gave her a pear.  Hilarious!

Daddy saves the day

Everyone was all smiles this morning!

 Daddy's girl

Kira's first stroll was only a one way trip.  We walked to Dunkin Donuts but it started to rain, so daddy ran all the way home to pick us up in the car.

This monkey did not let rain stop him from playing outside after school.

Farmers Market Wednesday

Max took Kira to the farmers market for the first time this afternoon.  She got to watch her brother eat lots of snacks and than go play with Sadie and Tessa at the playground.

Playing in the dark thanks to daylight savings

Kira's first farmers market

Max was promised fruit snacks if he stayed in bed last night.  Not only did he stay in bed (after a mere 20 minutes of reminders) but he remembered the fruit snacks and ran into our room requesting them as soon as he woke up.  Bribe well-earned.

Photo shoot for four

Getting four people to smile for the camera is no easy task, but there are bound to be some great shots from our photo shoot today.  Meghan took our family picture this afternoon and grandma got some fun behind-the-scenes shots of all the chaos.

Yummy chicken from Jen!  If only it was turkey, maybe the tryptophan in his three helpings would have made Max sleepy.

This says it all...girls and boys
