Got ice cream?

Not sure if Max got his two year molars, but there is no question that he got his mom's sweet tooth.

The ice cream truck needs to stop parking in front of our house.

Max's version of Hide and Seek- ordering everyone to, "Say where's Max!"

Sunshine and smiles

Max had a busy and fun-filled Saturday.  He slept in (until 7:15am), sampled fruit at the farmers market, splashed at his swim lesson, and ran wild at Meadow Lane Park.

Dream date

Max and mommy went out for dinner and dessert; the general could not have been more of a gentleman.  He behaved, ate his whole meal, and enjoyed his ice cream.

"I like ice cream!"

Belly

Max was so excited about wearing his new shoes that he did what anyone would do- lifted up his shirt.

"I did it!"

Max got (ie: insisted on taking home from a game) a full-size basketball to practice his dribbling skills and he is getting quite good.  He can dribble a couple of times in a row.  Tonight he insisted that mommy and daddy dribble with him; he said we were playing a basketball game.

Cleft clinic

Max had his annual appointment at the Johns Hopkins Cleft Clinic today.  He saw six doctors and was truly a dream patient.  Between each appointment he kept saying, "I want to see another doctor!"  The dental exam was his favorite; he laid perfectly still as several pairs of rubbery, blue hands explored the inner workings of his complex mouth.  He also aced his speech pathology appointment by identifying the pictures on a variety of flash cards.  The one-track mind of a toddler came out when Max said a large sliver fish was a "goldfish".  The only card he did not know had a picture of scissors; clearly we have done a good job of keeping those away from him.  Once again Max sat perfectly still during the hearing test, but those results were not ideal.  His hearing is a bit below normal, but the ENT appointment revealed that both of his ear tubes have fallen out and his ears are filled with fluid.  The fluid, although not infected, is most likely the cause of the hearing issue, so he will probably have the tubes replaced.  Dr. Redett, the main mastermind behind Max's mouth, continues to be happy with his progress.  He did recommend, however, that Max have surgery this summer to remove some scar tissue in the bottom of his upper lip.  Max can have the lip surgery and ear tubes done together, as an outpatient, in an hour. Two surgeries in one with no overnight stay sounds pretty good (for surgeries, that is).

Max and Pawley on the way to Baltimore.  Max loved the doctors and did not mind the waiting, but had a major meltdown in the car.

Not the most flattering angle, but Max was in the zone during this exam

I love being Max's mom

Max was too excited about taking pictures today.  "More pictures", he kept repeating, as if he knew it was exactly what his mommy wanted on Mother's Day.  Just one of the million reasons he is the best boy ever.

Max loved this caterpillar!

Moves

After waking up at 5:45am, Max had plenty of energy to dance at the farmers market. It was a solo.

Max has great dance moves

Early

Early Mother's Day treat from Max's school

Why would Max wake up at 6:15am if he is still tired?  To watch basketball?!

Good thing daddy taped the Heat game- 6:15am is a much more convinent time to watch.

Chasing Gracie

Max followed Gracie around the playground and was giddy with excitement every time she looked at him.

On your mark, get set, go!

Max raced to take advantage of his mom's Teacher Appreciation Day deal at Chipotle. After dinner, he just raced.  And raced. And raced.

Sunday fun

Max loves Sadie (and Pawley) so much that he sang a song about it.

The lady at the bagel store already knows Max's newest order by heart- everything bagel with butter.

Swim school

If you ask Max, he would tell you that he knows how to swim.  But since he really does not, he started swim lessons today. Of course he loved it!  He also loved the ice cream truck, and "Easter bunny" ice cream pop he had this afternoon.  Max only managed to eat about 10% of the bunny before it melted into his hands, leaving a bright blue ring around his smiling mouth.

Cheerios make Max smile on an early morning grocery run.

Eagerly awaiting his first swim lesson

Get me in there!

I want this one.

Yum!

Patriotic performer

Max loves to read and sing; today he did a lot of both.  First thing this morning he climbed out of bed, took Pawley to his rocking chair, and read his new favorite (free give-away) book, Click, Clack, Moo- Cows that Type.  It was tough to interrupt the sound of Max repeating "click, clack, moo" over and over again.

Max requested to go to Town Center after school.  He put on an excellent show on the car ride over, proudly belting out the Star Spangled Banner, complete with a well deserved self-ovation.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bIBzJSiucZg

On your mark, get set, go!  Max made new friends at the Town Center and they raced across the pavilion a dozen times.  Max's runner stance was priceless!

Max has been working on his dribbling skills and it is paying off!

Fresh (and dry!) air

Max was happy to get outside to play after being stuck inside by torrential rains

Chasing the neighborhood Pawley

When we were in New York a few weeks ago, Max helped Pa and Uncle use duct tape to secure foam on the sharp edges of the coffee table.  He was quite pleased with his tape job, pointing to it frequently and proudly bragging, "I made that!".  Today, Max spotted this duct tape on the playground and immediately exclaimed, "I made that at Gamma's house!".  That General has some memory.
