Monkey Max

Max had a blast at Monkey Joes- a savior for stir crazy kids in a never ending winter.  He jumped, drummed, dunked, and, when he ran out of tokens, watched other kids dunk.

Morning selfie!

Running on fumes (ie: no nap) with his gator

Max likes to brush his hair when the song says to brush the pony's coat.  He also likes to ride the pony all over the house.

Full House!

Private concert

Two is cosy, but three in the car is too many.

Dinner date

Friday night Max-mommy date

After a week of suddenly hating the shower or bath,  Max finally had some fun!

Butcher

Max had the ideal role in helping to prepare dinner tonight.  He merrily pounded the pork tenderloin, while we sang one of his favorite bedtime songs, "If I Had a Hammer".  Unfortunately he absolutely refused to taste it.

"Pawley hit me"
Max hits himself with Pawley's paw and then tattles on him for hitting.

Max dumped food out the refrigerator in search for "daddy's cup".  Guess we are out of beer; thanks for the heads up, Max.

Only one person was happy that Max woke up at 6:30am (after being awake for an hour in the middle of the night).  You're looking at him.

Window, mommy

Max pointed out all of the windows in the house and than climbed in the window of his playhouse.

Very serious

Bye Pawley

Max learned how to drive in reverse.  Next lesson- parallel parking.

Max wanted to play sleepys and he "shhhhhed" [imaginary?] people to go back to sleep.  Ironically, he refused to go to real sleepys tonight and is currently  drinking a cup of water in his crib.  Anything to keep him from climbing out!

Chores

Max opted out of his high chair tonight.  He walked up to the table, slid his Sesame Street placemat in front of David's chair, pointed to another chair and said, "daddy sit".   The General also took some orders tonight- he cleared the placemats off the table after dinner.  First chore- a success!

Big boy seat with a big boy plate!

Super Basketball Sunday

Despite the groundhog's gloomy, but not terribly surprising, winter prediction, the temperatures today were perfect for an outdoor playdate.  We met Sadie at a school playground and Max immediately started screaming "basketball game", yet ran away from the hoops. It was confusing until he ran towards the school and tried to go inside.  He continued to say "basketball game" because he thought there was one going on inside.  Luckily, Sadie's dad was nice [and tall] enough to hoist the kids up so they could take turns making baskets.  Even luckier- Max and Sadie did a great job taking turns!  But when Max heard "one more time" he took the ball and ran.  Uh oh.

We stopped at Trader Joes on the way home and when we left the store it was much darker then when we got there.  When we walked outside Max said, "light all gone".  It was the first time he seemed to notice (or at least verbalize) night time.  Max also met the moon for the first time tonight.  He said "moon up" and looked for it through the car window the whole way home.  "Hi moon", he said one minute, "moon all gone", the next.  And before we walked in the house he said, "goodnight moon".  What a great book.  What a great kid.

"Look tower Mommy"

Max was enjoying his peanut butter sandwich and yogurt until something else caught his eye.

"Birthday candle?!." (because all cupcakes or muffins are in honor of someone's birthday)

Max asked to put his sleep sack on for nap.  He slept for three hours and woke up happy.  Maybe he should wear it all day?

General Border gives the orders

As if taking a page out of his namesake's book, Max has been giving a lot of orders.  Here are a few of the latest, and still sweet sounding, commands from the General.

"Mommy look" (at my drawing, for Pawley, for me)
"Say Max" (and pretend you can't see me so that I can jump out and surprise you)
"Mommy (daddy, Pawley, Jen) clap!" (when I make a basket- and if you don't I will physically clap your hands together myself)
"Sit!" (and watch me play basketball)
"Rebound" (say the rebound cheer while I get shots up)

Mommy look!

Where's Max!?

Who knows why Max decided to start moving furniture? He says a lot, but not enough to explain this.

12345

Max likes to count to five, but it is also possible that he thinks "12345" is a word.

Max went crazy calling timeouts at the basketball game.

"12345"

Concession stand Chick fil A and a banana for dessert = the most dinner Max has eaten in a week!

Auntie Sadie's & Uncle Max's Pretzels

Sadie did the kneading and rolling, while Max was in charge of taste testing.

Excuse me

When Max burped tonight, as he does many [days and] nights, he said "excuse me".  It was the first time he said it on his own, but not the last.  After getting such a positive response for saying it once, he fake burped several more times, but followed each with a real "excuse me".

Mini Daddy

Max opened the refrigerator this morning, took out a can, and said, "daddy's cup". It was even cuter tonight when he said it while wearing daddy's jacket.  What is also humorous is the fact that David/daddy rarely drinks anything out of cans.  But given Max's addiction to drinking (water and milk!), he must pay extra close attention to other people's beverages.

Pawley is always hiding...

Cake crasher

Max could hardly wait to get his mouth around one of these cupcakes.  Gianna had to keep pushing his hand away during the birthday song.
