Making his mark

There is a pipe in our basement that has names, heights, and the year 1972, marked on it.  That is the year the house was built, so they were probably the first family to live here.  Is Max the shortest person [on record] to live here?

Max liked drawing on the pipe more than standing in front of it to be measured, but  we did manage an accurate height marking.

Mother-son song along to "Ain't No Mountain High Enough".  Max especially liked throwing himself on the ground for the valley part of the song.

Snowy day!

Max woke up to yet another day off from school and had a blast enjoying the first real snow accumulation of his life.

Snow!

Extra soft and squeezable in his snow suit

All done! Putting the finishing touches on Meghan's frosty.

Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night keeps Max from playing basketball

Ice day!

Thanks to a lot of freezing rain and a little snow, we had an all day [off school] pajama party!

More hug!

Nearly everything Max does is caught on camera.  Tonight, however, when he said "more hug", opened his arms as wide as he could, and hugged me over and over, I didn't feel like getting the camera.

Happy Birthday party, Sadie!

Just like old times, when they were only 1

Sing-a-long star

"...and the home of the brave!"
After tonight's basketball game,
Max has a new favorite song, that he loves singing along to- the Star Spangled Banner.

He also liked the rap music that the boys came out to

Rain, rain, go away

Rainy weather is not ideal, but when Max went outside this morning and started singing, "rain, rain, go away," all on his own [and I could understand him], it was completely worth it!

Time for some more Max-scaping.  It was a tear-free hair cut thanks to a well-timed lollipop and Mr. Le.

Max wouldn't touch this macaroni and cheese, but it sure was fun to shovel it back and forth between the bowl and fruit cup.

Basketball season opener

Max and I kicked off the start of basketball season with a dinner date before heading to the game.  We went to Sushi Yama and Max tried sushi for the first time.  It was just a vegetable roll, but he had a great time filling out the sushi order form, experimenting with chopsticks, and jamming sticky rice in his mouth.  Since David's game starts at Max's bedtime, we went to the JV game instead.  Max intently watched the first half and ran around on the court during halftime.  Every time there was a timeout he screamed, "More ball!".  He did a great job cheering for the Cougars.  And the other team, too.

More ball!

Dinner date with mommy at Sushi Yama. It's no Guzan, but Max enjoyed it.

Contortionist

An entertainer who twists and bends their body into strange and unusual positions.

Max got in here all by himself.  Then he cried, because he couldn't get the lid on.

"Hoop!"

"Oh wow!" If only Max had a desk to put this on.

All American

A parade, football, and Thanksgiving leftovers- what could be more American?

Max braved the freezing temperatures to watch the whole Reston holiday parade.  His favorite part was the ROTC- they must have reminded him of General Border and Drummer Hoff.

Yummy leftovers for lunch
