Max is going to take his space ship to see the moon and the stars- Kira! The stars were originally for mommy's baby belly bump, but they worked just as well on Kira in the baby carrier.

Happy Halloween!
Max had his encore evening in his astronaut suit and Kira (and mommy) was outer space. The astronaut collected plenty of treats and Kira took her first tour of the neighborhood snuggled warmly in the baby carrier.

Love at first sight
Kira got to come home from the hospital today, but not before making an important stop to pick up her big brother at school. As soon as Max saw mommy he said, "She is not in your belly anymore. I want to hold her. I want to sing Rock-a-Bye Baby". He was so excited to get in his car seat and leaned over to see Kira the whole way home. With little patience he said, "I want to hold her in the car", and when the two mile ride was finally over he dashed over to Kira's car seat and tried with all his might to carry it, "Myself!". He then ran inside and shook with excitement until Kira was finally in his arms. He beamed with pride and would not let anyone infringe on the special moment with his new little sister. Kira was equally happy to be in the arms of her new protector.

Kira's first day
Kira had an amazing first night and was just delightful all day long today. Max had lots of fun with Grandma and Pa and got to play with daddy a bit, too. Mommy and Kira cannot wait to head home and see Max tomorrow.
Kira's first teddy bear
Whoa!! I got a sister AND ice cream! Sweet treat after school with Grandma and Pa.

Max has a...
SISTER!!
Dr. Mandolesi made a special trip to deliver Max nearly three years ago. Today she did it again and introduced us to our baby girl, Kira!
Last picture of Max as an only child- classic! He almost came to the doctor with mommy, but it is a good thing he did not, since her water broke during the appointment.
After a long, sleepless night, Max woke up enjoyed watching the Daniel Tiger Show with his very own Daniel Tiger. Did he know that his sister was coming the next day??
Happy Birthday, Kira!

Al fresco concert
Max memorized and belted out, God Bless America, over a dozen times this afternoon. This creative genius made the basil plant his microphone and sung his boisterous heart out in the fall breeze.

Back to the patch
Max spent another beautiful afternoon back at the Reston Farm Market. He met a little boy in the bounce house, who is almost his same age, that was also born with a cleft lip and palate. Max sat with him on the train and they took a wagon ride around the pumpkins.
Max went to the Town Center but was a bit disappointed that he could not wear his astronaut suit. Because it was finally in the washing machine.

Halloween everyday!
Halloween is still a week away, but this is already the second weekend in a row of candy-coated, costume-clad festivities. Max is definitely getting his [grandma's] money's worth out of this astronaut suit!
Morning full of fun at the Reston Farm Market- a train, bounce house, slides and beautiful weather- what more could you ask for?
When Max saw the goats get a snack, he wanted one, too. There was plenty of time for snacking since we arrived at the pumpkin patch 30 minutes before it actually opened.
7am on Saturday morning
Max made this on the iPad- he told mommy, "It's not for me, it's for you!" and pointed out the yellow heart in the middle.

Sick day (but not really)
Max came home from school with a temperature yesterday, and since he did not seem 100% this morning, he stayed home. We visited the doctor, just to be on the safe side, and endured a trying strep test (which came back negative!), but essentially Max took a mid-week stay-cation.
This afternoon, Max went to Babies R Us to pick out a present for the baby-to-be. As expected, most of the present-hunt was for himself. Once mommy narrowed down the selection, and Max stopped hugging every stuffed animal and shirking, "Pawley!", he wound up with a giraffe for the baby and Daniel Tiger toy (from the "Pawley Show") for himself. Unfortunately, after slapping his "mom" (a term he got from Daniel Tiger) across the face for not having enough quarters for the car ride in the store, his toy had to be taken away. He can get it back tomorrow...if he stays in bed tonight.

An apple a day...
...does not really keep the doctor away. Max came home sick this afternoon. Again. But we won't give up on apples just yet. In fact the apple pictured below gave Max a burst of energy and an infusion of humor. During bedtime he was especially precocious in his procrastination technique and spent 15 minutes asking mommy, "Do you like...
my pillow, the basketball on my pillow, this baseball on my pillow, my white blankey, my big blankey, my dinosaur, Pawley, my letters (on the wall), my chair, my cup, my pjs, my door, my floor, Goodnight Moon, powder, lotion, and so on...
His expression was so genuinely inquisitive each and every time he asked a question; it was impossible to keep a straight face. So I didn't.
Max also asked to touch the baby. When he felt him/her kick he said, "The baby kicked a soccer ball!" That would explain why Mommy's belly is so huge! There is a baby AND a soccer ball in there!

Prized new pal
Max is already learning that life is a game of give and take. He gives into wearing a jacket [on this 40 degree morning] and he gets to take his new dinosaur to school. Max grew quickly attached to his new pal, "Green", the dinosaur, that he won at the fall festival yesterday. Not exactly a top of the line prize, mommy was sewing up a few of Green's wounds at 6:30am.
All giggles at breakfast after requesting a waffle, peanut butter, and oatmeal. And eating about half of everything.

Fall Festival at the Farm
Max loves to visit the animals at Frying Pan Farm any day of the week, but a tractor ride and carnival games (and prizes!!) made it an extra special treat on this gorgeous Fall day.
